Woodstock Fair, always Labor Day weekend.

For kids of all ages–A kid’s area for the littlest kids; the midway for those who can beat the Whack a Mole; the rides for those who can beat their fear of heights and fears of being strapped in so tight almost restricting breath, and then tossed around like a rag doll; crafters and craftsmen; the Concerts; the Ag displays - for that’s what the Fair is really all about, with the animals, baked goods, and of course the food– Italian Sausage, fried dough, Souvlaki with tetziki sauce, Potato Heaven, Pulled Pork……………….. (and no, I didn’t really eat all that. Really…. really…………

Come to the fair and be a kid again.

Marianapolis-Hannah

Hannah had her senior portrait session with Jen the other day–and my apologies for the delay in posting. A quick neccesary out of town trip and a few appointments are the reason for the delay in getting this up.

What fun we had! It’s great to do seniors together as it helps get everyone at ease, quickly; the laughing is real and the extra pair of eyes to make sure all is well is a great confidence builder.

After looking at a few of Hannah’s own photographs I was honored to be chosen to do their portraits–I believe Hannah has a real gift and should persue some advanced schooling to really master her craft. I’m looking forward to both working with her as a test guinea pig :) and having her attend the Quinebaug Valley Camera Club to show off her stuff.

This is not a typical senior portrait! It was a happy accident when I pressed the shutter while I was moving around the swing set; it just struck me that I wanted to know what she was thinking about–and just couldn’t let it go. Normally these wouldn’t even make the cut–but I love it

:)

Hannah’s shoes that were worn to the nibs as a child. I confess to getting a little chill working on these–a fabulous reminder of her childhood, as she enters adulthood!

So this might be a little more normal– how lovely both girl are!

Thank you guys! It was really a pleasure to work and hang with you for a couple hours. All the best for a fantastic Senior year at Marianapolis!

Jen had her senior por traits done recently–and what a good time we had! I like to work with kids who take ‘light direction’ and be as natural as they can with a big honking camera in their face for a couple hours. Jen is a natural–honest, creative, and has great ideas–and great dreams for college that I am envious about!

We moved the session up a couple hours due to impending storms and were rewarded with wonderful storm clouds and great warm overcast skies.

Thanks for making my work so enjoyable, Jen, and glad you had a great time, too.

Marianapolis-Chris and Jeff

Chris just graduated and is off to college, Jeff is entering his junior year. Not really seniors, but ‘tweens :) Good kids, respectful, helpful, and fun to be around. Just hanging around in the dog days.

Jeff and Chris

His Dad said “you got him smiling!” Both kids have great smiles, and shouldn’t be so shy to show them off!

SMILES!

Sometimes the old time feel to the photos is perfect!

Pet Photography

Bailey decided to join me while setting up for a session tonight. She sat on my fabulous Wicker By Design baby lounger and looked so sweet and innocent. For the 2.5 seconds she remained stationary.

Bring your best friend over for a real family session!

Is there anything that reminds you girls -of a certain age- of your childhood more than Raggedy Ann?

My constant companion from about age 6, she was filthy even thru many washes, had heart surgery when a neighbor dog got her and shook her stuffings out, and went with me when I went to an all girls boarding school. I gave her away to a mentor in my freshman year. I do hope Deb still has her.

Everytime I go to Sara and Barney’s house, I look for their Raggedy Ann, who is always sitting in the window sun. A welcome sign. Thanks for feeding me -body and soul-this weekend guys!

Coastal Weddings

George, from Coastal Life Photography, asked me to second with him again for a wonderful wedding held at Mystic Seaport and the Seamen’s Inne. Karen and Gerry make a beautiful couple; they were so relaxed all day–which makes for great smiles for the camera!

Again, I worked with the guys while they were getting ready and their bonding time pre-ceremony. The Seaport is such a cool place–lots and lots of places to make very different photos, and it’s really hard not to get into the period of the old whaling days. The guys took a walk thru the Charles Morgan (not my grandfather!!)-a restored 19th century whaler. The guys were particulary grateful they didn’t have to spend months hunched over, sleeping in 5 foot berths head to toe belowdecks with the smell of rendering blubber!

Aren’t they a handsome bunch! And Gerry so dapper, looks like a whale boat owner, standing at ease overseeing his vessel.

New Life

Is there anything more exciting than the waiting for a new baby? Especially the first?

Love you, little man

B and P will be having a little boy brighten their world in October and had a maternity session the other day. P was as into it as the mom-to-be and they will make great parents. It’s a lucky little guy who will be joining their family.

And I don’t know if a woman ever looks beautiful but during the wait.
