New Life

Is there anything more exciting than the waiting for a new baby? Especially the first?

Love you, little man

B and P will be having a little boy brighten their world in October and had a maternity session the other day. P was as into it as the mom-to-be and they will make great parents. It’s a lucky little guy who will be joining their family.

And I don’t know if a woman ever looks beautiful but during the wait.

Happy 50th B-day!

Dr Joan Teno and her niece Joan came up from Providence for some ‘formally informal’ studio work celebraing Joan’s ‘big’ Birthday. 50 is the new 30, or so I’ve been told.Dr Joan works in hospice and pallative care patience world wide; you might have heard and read about her feline, Oscar the Cat who patrols the nursing home and enters the room of those patiences who are terminally in, and helps them cross over. I think Oscar is there doing his own pallative care for the familes that are left behind.

Joan is a Labrador lover; she brought Java and the new puppy Moki as well as Gabi, a blind Lab. My poor puppy Bailey was crated for the session since she is still pretty rambuncious and I have a particular fondness for expensive lighting :)

Happy Birthday Joan, and good luck Joan in college and your year abroad.

Studio work begins!

So excited, demolition and rebuild has begun on my old home/studio. The house is 97 years old, has the original handturned unpainted woodwork; the original hardwood floors with weird patterns that were meant to be covered with rugs, the original lath and horsehair walls and ceilings, (and corresponding lack of insulation!). Redoing the entry way which is a large room by itself, that goes into a 14×30 (total) camera room via original pocket doors, which then flows into a 2nd smaller camera room for intimates or infant shooting.
Muslin movers as well as installing expan drives to the walls, a little nook for a new huge set, a new closet to try to hide some out of season stuff, new seamless in fun, bright colors, as well as a couple new canvases for traditional head and shoulder images.
Alex of A&P construction laid on the firring for the new ceiling in the main camera room today with the sheetrock going up tomorrow; then the real mess begins with the mud and sanding –I can’t wait!
